Margot McAfoos
Rend Lake College

A native of Germany, Margot McAfoos first stepped onto the Rend Lake College campus nearly 36 years ago.

She has since taken 64 credit courses and 84 non-credit courses in such areas as computer science, public speaking, and journal writing.

McAfoos says that these classes helped her mentor future leaders as training and public relations director with the Shagbark Girl Scout Council.

Now retired, she serves on the advisory board of RLC's Institute for Learning in Retirement and has been an enthusiastic ambassador of lifelong learning throughout the college district.

"My role as a perpetual student keeps me fit and mentally alert," says McAfoos.
